Financial counselling & money support

How we can help

Financial Counselling

We provide free, accessible legal information and advice to help individuals understand their rights and options.

We support people with debts, unpaid bills, fines and money stress. Our financial capability workers and financial counsellors can help you build long term financial skills, as well as provide intensive support to identify and assist with financial difficulties.

Our services include helping you to:

  • Create and manage a budget
  • Understand what to do if you can’t pay bills, debts or fines
  • Arrange payment plans with creditors
  • Access Government assistance and entitlements
  • Talk to creditors and explore hardship options such as the Hardship Utility Grant Scheme (HUGS) and No Interest Loans (NILs)
  • Understand options related to bankruptcy
  • Challenge decisions that may affect you (advocacy support)

This service provides free information, options and support to people experiencing financial difficulty.
